Beyond Personal Finance is designed for students in grades 9 through 12, ages 13 and up. It works equally well for students learning at home, in a co-op, in a small group, or in a classroom setting.

The course is 20 lessons, each designed to take under two hours. Most students complete it in one semester, working at their own pace.

No prior knowledge is required. The course starts from the beginning and builds financial understanding through hands-on simulation that enhance lectures and textbooks.

Beyond Personal Finance is organized into three units covering 20 lessons across the full spectrum of adult financial life. Unit 1 covers careers and education, budgeting, car purchase, and apartment rental. Unit 2 covers credit cards, marriage and interest, babies and payroll, house purchase, and insurance. Unit 3 covers charitable giving, investments, business basics, layoff and financial tracking, income tax, divorce and review, and retirement. Checkpoint lessons at the end of each unit give students a chance to review and consolidate what they have learned.

Yes. Students access video lessons and their workbook on their own schedule. The 365-day membership gives families plenty of flexibility to work at whatever pace fits their school year.
